The South Africa’s selection committee has announced the 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 which is set to be played in England and Wales from June 12 to July 5. After finishing runner-up in the ODI edition in 2025, the South Africa Women will aim to end their wait for a maiden ICC title.
Shabnim Ismail has returned to the national side after reversing her retirement from international cricket. She announced her retirement after the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in 2023. The speedster played her last T20I against Australia in Cape Town. Ismail has taken 123 wickets from 112 T20I innings at an economy rate of 5.77. The 37-year-old also impressed in the Women’s Premier League 2026 for Mumbai Indians, picking up six wickets in seven innings at an economy rate of 6.17.
The side will be led by Laura Wolvaardt and the squad also has experienced names like Tazmin Brits, Suné Luus, Chloé Tryon, Nadine de Klerk and Nonkululeko Mlaba.
Young all-rounder Kayla Reyneke has earned her maiden senior World Cup call-up after a strong international season. The 20-year-old has featured in nine T20Is where he has scored 159 runs at an average of 53 and a strike-rate of 157.21. She also managed to pick five wickets in those matches at at economy rate of 7.00.
Some of the key players have also returned to the squad. Marizanne Kapp is returning after recovering from illness, while Dané van Niekerk has returned after recovering from a calf injury. Wicketkeeper-batter Karabo Meso is also back after missing the recent India series due to a wrist injury.
