Hearts of Oak SC defender Kelvin Osei Asibey believes the club has the quality to challenge for the Ghana Premier League title next season if improvements are made in attack.
The centre-back insists the Phobians already possess one of the strongest defensive units in the league, but must become more effective in front of goal to compete with teams like Medeama SC and Bibiani Gold Stars FC.
Speaking after Hearts of Oak’s goalless draw against Aduana Stars FC on Sunday, Osei Asibey admitted the team’s main area of concern has been scoring goals.
“We will work on our attack mostly because, as everybody knows, we are having the best defense this season. So going into next season, I think maybe they will do some adjustments to boost the team for the team to do things right next season,” he said.
Despite struggling in attack throughout the campaign, Hearts have remained competitive largely because of their defensive solidity.
The Phobians currently sit third on the Ghana Premier League table after 32 matches and have consistently been among the league’s strongest defensive sides.
However, the Accra-based club is set to finish the season without silverware after failing to maintain a consistent title challenge.
