The Packers are all-in on Christian Watson.
After allowing leading receiver Romeo Doubs to walk via free agency, and trading Dontayvion Wicks, the Packers are telegraphing that tight end Tucker Kraft, second-year speedster Matthew Golden, and Watson figure to be the marquee pieces in the passing game around quarterback Jordan Love.
Christian Watson’s contract value revealed ahead of Packers extension
Over at Spotrac, Michael Ginnitti put together a list of the 10 receivers across the league most likely to sign an extension, with each of their projected contract values, including Watson coming in at $54 millon over three years.
“Watson signed a 2-year $13M contract last September,” Ginnitti writes of Watson. ‘That increased his 2025 compensation ($7.2M), but left 2026 largely incentive-laden, with a maximum of $8M to be earned this year. When healthy, the 26-year-old is worth well north of double that value, but are the Packers ready to take that gamble yet?”

The projection for Watson is interesting, not jusst because it would be the latest three-year extension signed, continuing a trend this offseason across the league with players seeking the chance to hit the market right when a likely new television rights package is set to go into effect but also that this deal would make Watson just the 23rd-highest paid receiver in the league by AAV.
Watson enters the 2026 season with 133 career receptions for 2,264 yards and 20 touchdowns, through his first 40 NFL games.
