Forward Sam Lyne will be part of Great Britain’s World Championship squad after his domestic team in North America went out of the playoffs last week.
The 21-year-old initially had to withdraw with his availability in doubt, but Cranbrook Bucks went out of the BCHL playoffs in the Conference Finals.
Lyne will replace Sean Norris who will miss the tournament after picking up an injury against Italy in Milton Keynes on 30th April.
Head Coach, Pete Russell, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for Sam and it’s great he can come back into the squad.
“He’s a talented young player and we are thrilled he can join us for the World Championship.”
GB completed their four-game series with Italy last night with a stunning come-from-behind 5-3 victory in Varese.
The team will travel to Switzerland today to set-up their base at the 12,000-seater Swiss Life Arena in Zurich ahead of Saturday’s opening game against Austria.
GB will also face USA, Hungary, Switzerland, Finland, Latvia and Germany in Group A.
Group B – which is being held at the 9,000-seater BCF Arena in Fribourg, consists of Canada, Sweden, Czechia, Denmark, Slovakia, Norway, Slovenia and Italy.
