WWE’s huge TripleMania 34 reveal during Backlash may only be part of the story.
After officially announcing that TripleMania 34 will become the first two-night event in AAA history, new backstage details are now surfacing via WrestleVotes on Fightful Select about how dramatically the plans changed behind the scenes — including the possibility of one night taking place in the United States. The original concept for the show was far smaller earlier this year before WWE and AAA expanded the idea internally.
“Original plans called for the event to take place over one night at Arena CDMX on Saturday, September 12.”
Instead, WWE announced during Backlash that TripleMania 34 will now happen across two separate nights on September 11 and September 13 in Mexico City. One of the biggest twists from the backstage update involves growing internal speculation that the first night may not happen in Mexico at all.
“According to a source, there is heavy internal speculation that night 1 could emanate from a location in the United States.”
That would mark a massive shift for AAA’s biggest annual event and further shows how aggressively WWE appears to be positioning the promotion for a larger international audience. There are also plans for AAA to become a much bigger part of WWE programming moving forward as the partnership continues developing.
“There are additional plans to integrate more AAA into WWE programming to expand their reach.”
The crossover interest is already growing backstage too, as several WWE talents are said to be interested in working AAA events once opportunities open up.
“A number of WWE talent have expressed interest in working AAA.”
WWE’s announcement at Backlash already turned heads because TripleMania has traditionally been AAA’s signature one-night event. Turning it into a two-night spectacle — while possibly bringing part of it to the United States — signals that WWE has much larger plans for the AAA brand than many fans originally expected.
With crossover appearances already being discussed internally, TripleMania 34 could quickly become one of the most talked-about wrestling events of 2026.
