Liverpool travel to the Midlands to face Aston Villa on Friday, in their final away game of the Premier League season.

The Reds lifted the top flight title last term at a canter, but Arne Slot’s side have struggled this time around.

The Merseyside outfit currently sit fourth in the top flight standings, though, and victory at Villa Park would see them secure qualification for next season’s Champions League.

In the build up to that game, it has emerged that the match may give Liverpool a chance to watch one of their transfer targets in action.

As per TEAMtalk, Liverpool have identified Villa’s Ami Martinez as their top target as they hunt for a new goalkeeper.

The report claims that the Reds are working to find a potential replacement for Alisson, who has been heavily linked with a move away from Anfield.

Martinez, 33, is said to be at the top of Liverpool’s list of targets, having built a reputation as one of Europe’s best ‘keepers over the past few seasons.

The Argentine joined Villa from Arsenal in 202o, having had six loan spells during his time with the Gunners and played just 38 times for the London side.

Since arriving in Birmingham, he has kept 79 clean sheets in 254 matches across all competitions for the Villans, as well as conceding 303 goals.

In 2022, he played a pivotal role for Argentina as they lifted the World Cup, beating France in a thrilling final in Qatar.

While Liverpool are said to have faith in Giorgi Mamardashvili – who has impressed when deputising for Alisson this term – the report claims that the club are keen to sign an experienced ‘keeper that could replace the Brazilian if he were to depart.
