AbsoluteBLACK has introduced what it says is “a new approach to tubeless valve design,” using carbon-reinforced polymer construction to reduce weight while maintaining everyday durability.
At just 2.6 grams per valve (including 0.6g cap), the new valves are the lightest available, offering a noticeable reduction compared to traditional aluminium designs—without changing how riders set up or maintain their tubeless systems. Valves can be used without the cap, reducing the mass to a mere 2.0g.
Carbon-reinforced construction for practical weight savings
Instead of traditional aluminium, absoluteBLACK says it has engineered the valve using carbon-reinforced polymer injection. This material offers two main advantages: lower density — roughly half that of aerospace-grade aluminium, and Greater design freedom — enabling shapes difficult to achieve with CNC machining
The result is a valve that balances low weight with everyday robustness, while enabling more refined internal geometry. Sealing elements remain rubber to ensure reliable airtight performance. The construction is patent pending, and the external design is already protected by granted patents.
In the process of reducing weight, the company says it has moved the design away from a traditional removable Presta core. Instead, it adopts a bottom-sealing mechanism, inspired by early valve concepts dating back to 1915, where the sealing interface sits at the base rather than the top.
This layout simplifies the internal structure and contributes to reduced overall mass and a more direct internal air path.
Recent tubeless valve development has often focused on high-flow designs aimed at mountain biking, which can come with added bulk or high price.
These valves take a different approach—prioritising low weight, compact form factor, and compatibility with road and gravel setups. Fully Compatible with standard presta pump heads.
The lightweight construction also reduces rotating mass at the wheel, a small but meaningful detail appreciated by riders focused on overall bike weight and efficiency.
