Andre Petroski is looking to make a statement on Saturday to secure a spot at the upcoming Philadelphia event.
Petroski is set to return to the Octagon at UFC Vegas 117 on Saturday against Cody Brundage. It’s an intriguing fight and one that Petroski believes is a long time in the making.
“I think it would have made sense earlier; I do think it makes sense now,” Petroski said to BJPENN.com. “It’s a familiar opponent; I have trained with Cody before, and we have both fought on the same cards multiple times. We have both been around for a while, so very familiar opponent.”
Given that Petroski and Brundage have trained with one another, he understands what his opponent does well. However, he does think Brundage often makes critical mistakes and shoots himself in the fight.
“He’s got some talent, but he always seems to shoot himself in the foot,” Petroski added. “As long as I can go back and see, even his last fight, it felt like he could’ve beaten that kid, and he took the second round off.”
Andre Petroski believes he’s fighting for his job
Given that Andre Petroski thinks Cody Brundage shoots himself in the foot, he does expect to get a stoppage win at UFC Vegas 117 on Saturday.
If Petroski gets his hand raised, the goal is to get on the UFC event in Philadelphia later this summer.
“I have to finish Cody so I can get on that card. I need to put in a good performance that I know I’m capable of, and I fully trust my manager will get on the Philly card,” Petroski said.
However, although Petroski has his goal of getting on the Philadelphia card, he knows he can’t look too far ahead. Instead, he’s focusing on this fight as he believes he could be fighting for his job.
“For sure. At this point in my career, I’m treating every fight as if it could be my last. I take nothing for granted. I’m working hard,” Petroski concluded.
Do you think Andre Petroski will beat Cody Brundage?
