Home-based Black Stars depart Ghana for Mexico friendly – Ghana Latest Football News, Live Scores, Results

The home-based contingent of the Black Stars has departed Ghana for Mexico ahead of an international friendly against Mexico scheduled for May 22, 2026.

The locally-based players travelled alongside members of the technical team as preparations intensify for the high-profile fixture.

The match is expected to provide the technical handlers with an opportunity to assess players from the Ghana Premier League at international level while strengthening the squad ahead of future assignments.

Medeama midfielder Salim Adams is among the players in the travelling contingent after an impressive season with the league leaders.

Nations FC captain Razak Simpson has also been included following his strong performances in defence, while Heart of Lions forward Ebenezer Abban joins the squad to add attacking options.

Dreams FC defender Ebenezer Adade has earned a call-up, with Hearts of Oak goalkeepers Benjamin Asare and Solomon Agbasi also travelling for the friendly.

Other invited foreign-based players are expected to join the squad ahead of the game.

The Mexico friendly is expected to offer valuable exposure for the home-based players as Ghana continue preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where the Black Stars will face Panama, England and Croatia in the group stage.
