Blake Monroe is already trying to secure her place in the upcoming John Cena Classic as WWE continues working out the details for the new tournament concept introduced by John Cena.
The project has become one of WWE’s biggest discussion points this week after Cena admitted the format is still being developed internally, but Monroe made it clear she has no interest in sitting on the sidelines once the tournament officially begins.
Speaking during a new interview with Marca, Monroe openly pushed for a spot in the John Cena Classic while hyping herself as one of the names that should help lead the event.
“Of course I want to be part of it. It looks like it’s going to be a huge tournament, and obviously you need to headline it with a big name like the glamorous Blake Monroe.”
Monroe also named several wrestlers she would want to face if she ends up joining the tournament. One name that immediately stood out was Tatum Paxley, as Monroe referenced their unfinished issues from NXT.
“As for who I’d like to face… I just escaped from the NXT women—they were giving me a hard time. But we have so much talent. I’d love to face Tatum again because we have unfinished business after she put me in a coffin.”
She continued by mentioning other names she would like to mix it up with if WWE brings together talent from different brands and regions.
“There’s also Kendall Grey and lots of new European additions. I’d love to be a part of it. And if I’m not there, I’ll enjoy watching it because it’ll be interesting to see how all these people from different places clash.”
The comments come shortly after Cena discussed the inspiration behind the John Cena Classic and revealed that the idea came directly from him. Cena explained that the concept is designed to create opportunities for rising talent to prove themselves under pressure, similar to the platform that helped launch his own WWE career.
Even though WWE is still finalizing the format and structure for the tournament, Monroe is already making it known that she wants in once the project officially moves forward.
