Chelsea will hope to put an end to their dismal recent record in domestic cup finals when they face Manchester City in the FA Cup on Saturday.

The Blues have won just one of their last nine cup finals at Wembley, with their only victory in that time being a 1-0 win over Manchester United in the 2017/18 FA Cup.

This season has largely been disappointing for the west London side, who are the current holders of both the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup.

In the build up to their Wembley trip, it appears that Chelsea are in the race to sign a talented Spanish attacker.

As per Spanish outlet Fichajes, via CaughtOffside, both Chelsea and Manchester United are showing interest in Real Sociedad winger Ander Barrenetxea.

The report claims that the two English sides are both monitoring the 24-year-old, who has scored four goals and provided five assists in 34 matches so far this season.

It is claimed that Chelsea are looking for an upgrade on current wingers Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens, who have both struggled during their debut season at Stamford Bridge.

Barrenetxea is a product of Sociedad’s youth system and has now made more than 230 appearances for the club across all competitions, including 180 La Liga games.

The winger was handed his senior international debut for Spain in March this year, during a goalless draw against Egypt.

While Sociedad are reluctant to allow the player to leave the club, the report suggests that an offer in the region of £65-70 million would likely prove too tempting for the Spanish outfit to decline.
