Tony Khan Responds After Fan Claims “Media Trained Tony” Is Becoming a Problem

Tony Khan is explaining why he didn’t fire back harder after reports claimed people inside WWE were questioning AEW’s television future.

After Khan addressed the rumors during the ROH Supercard of Honor media scrum, one fan praised his calmer approach on Twitter and joked that “media trained Tony” was becoming a problem.

“Media trained Tony is a problem… although I do wish he would take a lil swing though…”

The AEW President responded by saying he has not taken any new media training. Instead, he credited experience from working in wrestling and sports, along with a renewed focus on his faith.

“Thank you very much. I didn’t take any specific new media training though. I have both gained experience over time working in wrestling and sports, and I’ve rediscovered what it means to turn the other cheek, because of reinvigorating my faith in Jesus in recent years.”

That response came after Khan had already pushed back on claims that WWE sources were discussing AEW’s next TV deal in a negative way. During the Supercard of Honor scrum, Khan said the reported internal talk was not accurate.

“I saw a report today that somebody in WWE is telling people within WWE talking about AEW’s next TV deal, and talking about what we’re doing. And I was surprised by that, and all I’ll say is what they said could not be further from the truth.”

Khan also said he has tried to be more respectful toward WWE in recent years, even when he hears claims being spread behind the scenes.

“They’re entitled to their opinions. I’ve been trying to be respectful to them and try to conduct myself as a gentleman, and then for them to go on background and spread these things… I’ll just turn the other cheek. And maybe a couple of years ago, I wouldn’t have done it like that.”

Khan’s latest Twitter response gives more context to that approach. Instead of taking a public shot back at WWE, he says his experience and renewed faith have changed how he handles those situations. For now, Tony Khan is denying the AEW TV deal rumors while making it clear he is choosing restraint over another public war of words.
