Former WWE wrestler Marty Jannetty has recently gotten his foot amputated.
The news was revealed by Eddy Mansfield on the “Monte & The Pharaoh” YouTube podcast earlier today, who shared that Jannetty had been having issues with the foot dating back a long time – to the time when he was working with Shawn Michaels in WWE as the Rockers tag team in the late 80s and early 90s.
“One of my dearest friends ever on the face of this earth and was a great wrestler had his foot amputated, and his name is The Rocker Marty Jannetty.”
Steve Stasiak of The Book Pro Wrestlers Facebook account also had the following to say, even posting a photo of Jannetty in a wheel chair:
“Marty Jannetty has undergone a foot amputation following years of serious problems and ongoing pain involving his foot and ankle.
It’s heartbreaking news for wrestling fans who grew up watching Marty as one half of The Rockers, but for those close to the situation, it’s also a reminder of just how much physical pain he’s reportedly been battling for a long time.
We’ve had the opportunity to work events with Marty over the years, and he was always incredibly kind to us, to the people around him, and especially to the fans. No matter what he was dealing with personally or physically, Marty always made time for people.
As difficult as this news is, we’re also hopeful that this can become a new beginning for him — one where he’s finally able to live with less pain and more comfort after so many hard years on that foot and ankle.

Mansfield was also critical of WWE for not helping Jannetty manage the foot injury when it was first identified, claiming that it originated in a WWE ring, before pushing Jannetty for inclusion into the Hall of Fame
“Where in the hell was the WWE to help Marty Jannetty? Hell, he made them millions of dollars and you can’t help him when he is in the biggest need of his life, fighting for his life? I don’t understand that. And that’s where I’ve had problems with promoters this whole damn time.”
“His problem has always been his ankles, and his ankles were screwed up in a WWE wrestling ring and making them a lot of money. Him and Shawn Michaels.”
“The WWE and Shawn Michaels should have stepped in and made sure he went to the best when it all started. And give him the best medical attention and to the best doctors that money could buy. And that wasn’t done. I guarantee they’d do it for Shawn Michaels, though.”
