Jon Jones hints at UFC exit after surprising Dana White comment about Francis Ngannou

Ngannou left the UFC in 2023 after a prolonged contract dispute and fought only once since then. His last fight was a first-round stoppage of Renan Ferreria in 2024, and Saturday’s win reminded everyone of his dominance. Following his exit, UFC CEO Dana White has openly shared disparaging comments about the Cameroonian-French, including claiming he doesn’t regret his absence.

However, Jones is on an exclusive contract with the UFC and will have to exit the promotion to fight Ngannou. He was on the commentary on Saturday when Ngannou registered a dominant win right before his eyes. He’s perhaps even more inspired by the fight and would like to face off against Ngannou as soon as possible, even if it terminates his UFC contract.

Jon Jones insists on a dream fight with Francis Ngannou

Francis Ngannou reaffirmed his claim as the best heavyweight in the world following a first-round knockout over Philipe Lins. He hinted at ending his contract with the UFC to seal a bout with Ngannou before both men retire.

“I don’t think Dana’s interested in doing business with Francis. If we can get out of my contract, that’d be great.”

While the MMA has no official lineal championship line, the 39-year-old has an undeniable legendary status in the game. Following his UFC exit, American Jones and British Tom Aspinall won the UFC heavyweight title. Yet, many still regard the Cameroonian as the best heavyweight in the world.

Meanwhile, his fight under the MVP got widespread admiration around the MMA world, triggering fans’ desire to see Ngannou in more legendary fights. A fight with Jones would form one of the biggest heavyweight fights in history. However, Ngannou’s strained relationship with the UFC and Jones’ exclusive contract with the promotion are present hindrances to that wish.
