Ultra-endurance races are now a feature on many a cyclist’s bucket list, and perhaps for that reason event organisers are looking to push the distances involved and the remoteness of the terrain to ever greater extremes.
Enter young Balkan upstart The Accursed Race from Lost Dot, organiser of The Transcontinental Race. While Lost Dot’s other events allow riders a certain amount of freedom in route choice, The Accursed Race has a fixed 1,600km route, predominantly off-road, starting in Albania and spanning a number of Balkan nations, including the Accursed Mountains from which it takes its name.
