This past weekend was the cross-town rivals match-up. From the Subway Series in New York to the Crosstown Classic in Chicago, there was plenty of excitement on the diamond. In Chicago, Munetaka Murakami is making a name for himself with the White Sox with his monstrous home runs.
His Topps Now card says it best:
In his first Crosstown Classic, Chicago White Sox slugger Munetaka Murakami continued doing what he’s been doing best. The rookie clubbed his 16th and 17th home runs in an 8-3 win against the Chicago Cubs, tallying his first big-league multi-longball game. “He can hit,” Cubs starter Jameson Taillon said. “He can put the ball in the seats.”
In New York, the Mets took two out of three games against the Yankees with a nail-biter in the last game and then a shot to the upper deck by Tyrone Taylor and a walk-off hit by Carson Benge. Their Topps Now card recaps that their “game-tying home run and walk-off hit land Subway Series Triumph.”
Until then, see you at the park.
