Manchester United visit Brighton and Hove Albion in their final match of the Premier League season on Sunday.
Michael Carrick has overseen huge improvement since taking charge of the Red Devils in January, and the Englishman is expected to be announced as United’s new permanent head coach in the near future.
After recovering well from a disastrous first half of the campaign, the Manchester outfit now sit third in the top flight table and have already secured qualification for next season’s Champions League.
Those in charge of the club will already have one eye on this summer’s transfer market, though, and it is emerging that United are interested in a Premier League midfielder.
As per Spanish outlet Fichajes, both Manchester United and Arsenal have been informed that Newcastle United could be willing to sell midfielder Sandro Tonali this summer.
The report claims that the Magpies have recognised a need to balance the books after missing out on Champions League qualification, and Tonali has been identified as a candidate to depart.

The Italy international is said to be one of a number of Newcastle players that have expressed an interest in leaving St. James’ Park this summer, and Newcastle could allow the player to do so for the right price.
Tonali, 26, has made has made 110 appearances for the Magpies since joining the club from AC Milan in 2023.
It is claimed that Newcastle will demand a fee as high as £69 million for the Italy international, who has more than two years remaining on his current contract with the North East giants.
Newcastle are said to need to sell players in order to ease their financial concerns this summer, however it isn’t clear whether the Red Devils or the Gunners will be able to meet their valuation of the player.
