A lot of things went down during the May 19 edition of NXT. Then the main event ended with a big surprise.
DarkState took on the Vanity Project in the main event of the show this week. That match stretched through a commercial break, and it included a lot of tension.
In the end, the Vanity Project retained their NXT Tag Team Titles. Then they left in celebration, but DarkState stuck around in the ring.
Dion Lennox, Saquon Shugars, Cutler James, and Osiris Griffin have made up DarkState since the faction was introduced. Things changed this week, as Saquon was attacked by the rest of the stable.
Although Dion Lennox wasn’t the first to jump on his tag team partner, since they just battled on the same side against Vanity Project, he eventually jumped on the attack. After Shugars took a fair amount of punishment in the ring, DarkState dragged him out of the ring and put him through the announce table.
Saquon Shugars has teased a split from DarkState in the past, and it’s clear that higher-ups have positioned him in a place that could see a lot more television time. Now that he’s apparently been ejected from DarkState, it appears that Shugars will have to do it on his own.
