Ryan Garcia has claimed that he’s fighting Conor Benn in September.
Garcia has been in discussions to defend his WBC welterweight world title against number one contender, Benn for weeks.
Benn called on his rival to sign the contract last month and Garcia has announced they will clash on September 12 in Las Vegas, although a venue is not known at this stage.
“I can say that we’re fight September 12,” the 27-year-old said on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
“It will be in Vegas.
“The opponent is from across the pond.
“His name is Conor Benn.
“He’s talking a lot.

“He actually confronted me at an awards show two years ago.
“My wife was there and he pressed up on me, grabbed me, so it’s a little personal.
“We’ll be ready to go get him.”

Should Garcia-Benn become official for September 12, it would be on the same night as Canelo Alvarez’s challenge for the WBC super middleweight world title against Christian Mbilli in Riyadh.
‘King Ry’ won the WBC crown and his first world title in February, dropping Mario Barrios on route to a dominant unanimous decision victory in Las Vegas.
Benn overcame former super lightweight world champion, Regis Prograis last month in his first fight since back-to-back showdowns with Chris Eubank Jr, the second of which he won after losing their first contest by unanimous decision.

Days after beating Prograis on points, The Destroyer’ signed a new multi-fight deal with Dana White’s Zuffa Boxing, having controversially left Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom on a one-fight contract against Prograis worth a reported $15m.
Should the Garcia bout get finalised, the 29-year-old Brit will challenge for a maiden world title.

“Just signed a new multi-fight deal which I’m very happy about,” Benn said after extending his deal with Zuffa.
“Our visions are aligned.
“Our goal remains the same to get that world title, but more importantly give people want the fights they want.
“Give people the mega fights.”
