Fizik launches Versor 2: a redesigned gravity-focused MTB shoe built for riders who move between technical trail riding, bike park laps, shuttle days, and even backcountry missions. Available in both clip-in and flat versions, Fizik says the Versor 2 offers precise control through the pedals and practical durability in a minimalist race-ready package.
According to the brand, Versor is influenced as much by non-cycling technical outdoor footwear as by traditional mountain biking shoes. Versor’s design uses learnings from the lightweight construction and precision fit found in trail-running and hiking shoes, combined with Fizik’s experience in performance road and off-road footwear. The result is a shoe focused on pedal connection, bike control, and responsiveness, with a technical aesthetic shaped as much by performance outdoor footwear as by mountain biking itself.
A DIFFERENT APPROACH TO GRAVITY FOOTWEAR
Versor 2 represents a broader expression of Fizik’s overarching design philosophy, like the brand’s focus on lightweight performance, comfortable but precise fit, and technical construction, in a category often dominated by heavier, bulkier designs.
Brand Manager, Alex Locatelli, said:
“When we started working on Versor 2, we wanted to move away from the idea that MTB shoes need to feel oversized or overbuilt to feel protective. We took more inspiration from technical outdoor footwear, where lightweight materials and precise fit already exist at a very high level. The goal was to create something minimal, sharp, and highly connected to the bike, while still delivering the durability needed for aggressive trail riding or racing.”
Both versions of Versor 2 have been designed with a new style that is carried across all of Fizik’s newest shoes, both on and off-road. The fit centres around a more anatomical forefoot shape, giving riders more room through the toe box for comfort and stability during long descents and repeated impacts. This makes the Versor 2 “race ready” for riding disciplines like trail, enduro, downhill, and E-MTB.

LIGHTWEIGHT. SHARP. PRECISE.
Versor 2 has been designed around a clear concept: keep bulk to a minimum to maximise precision on the pedals. Many traditional gravity-focused shoes rely on heavier materials and padding to give a skate-inspired silhouette. Versor 2’s more minimalist approach helps keep the overall weight low and improves the aesthetics of the shoe.
The shoe’s ripstop upper uses strategically placed reinforcement zones rather than relying on uniformly heavy materials throughout. PU-laminated protection is concentrated in high-wear areas around the toe box and sidewalls, where contact is often made with the crank arms. This allows for lower-stress sections to remain lightweight, breathable, and quick drying.
This zonal construction reduces water retention and improves both breathability and drying speed. The light construction allows the shoe to move with the foot more naturally and ensures the rider can move their feet freely, essential during gravity riding where precise foot placement and pedal feedback matter the most.
The design is finished with a bootie-style upper that wraps closely around the foot. Combined with the ergonomic lace-up closure, the result is a secure, pressure-free fit that keeps Versor 2 comfortable for however long a rider is on the trails.

CLIP IN. DROP IN.
The clip-in Versor 2 uses a redesigned Gravita outsole featuring a Vibram XS Trek EVO compound paired with a varying tread layout engineered specifically for gravity riding. Lower-profile lugs are used through the midfoot where the pedal clips in, while deeper tread at the toe and heel improves grip, particularly during steeper hike-a-bike sections.
A revised nylon shank increases pedalling support and power transfer while maintaining enough flexibility for walking comfort. Versor 2 uses an extended cleat track that provides riders with greater cleat adjustability, particularly useful for steep terrain or aggressive descending positions.
BUILT FOR GRIP, TUNED FOR CONTROL
The flat-pedal Versor 2 Flat also has a Gravita outsole design that makes use of a dedicated Vibram XS Ride outsole compound, developed to balance pedal grip with durability. The tread pattern offers traction while retaining pedal feel. This is achieved with lower-profile centre lugs improving pedal contact while deeper toe and heel sections maintain confident footing off the bike.
With a lower stiffness rating than the clipless version, Versor 2 Flat prioritises pedal conformity and traction, giving riders a planted, controlled feeling during technical riding.
