Sting and Darby Allin have been friends for some time now. Recently, the wrestling legend revealed how Allin has helped him learn a lot about himself.
Speaking to ESPN in a recent story on Allin, Sting talked about his relationship with Allin. The legend said that, when they first met, Sting tried to keep him from doing so many crazy stunts.
“At first, I was trying to talk some sense into him by saying he didn’t have to do these risky moves every match. But, man, he rubbed off on me, and I ended up taking way more risks than I anticipated myself taking,” Sting said. “By the end, you didn’t know whether the young guy was going to jump off the balcony or the old guy was going to jump off the balcony. And sometimes we both did together.”
For Allin, though, he was just making sure he helped Sting be the best legend he could be, and finish his career on a high note. “Sting didn’t just go out playing the greatest hits,” Allin said. “He rewrote the whole f—ing book.”
As for their friendship, Sting says that the pair are still close friends. He was even on hand when Allin won the AEW World Championship. The legend joked they still have one thing left to do together, but that he’s learned a lot from Allin.
“We haven’t had a chance to go play miniature golf together. I still owe him that,” Sting said. “We’ll be friends until one of us leaves the earth.
“He taught me how to live life to the fullest.”
