The Detroit Lions offense gained another veteran target Wednesday with the signing of Cedrick Wilson Jr, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
The 30-year-old wide receiver joins Detroit after spending the 2025 season with the Miami Dolphins, where he appeared in 10 games and made five starts. He finished last year with five receptions for 44 yards on nine targets while also contributing on special teams.
Wilson entered the NFL as a sixth-round pick by the Dallas Cowboys in 2018 after playing at Boise State. During his senior college season, he finished with 83 catches for 1,511 yards and seven touchdowns while also returning kickoffs.
Across his NFL career, Wilson has played 93 regular-season games and recorded 126 receptions for 1,524 yards and 12 touchdowns. He has also appeared in three playoff games, producing nine catches for 113 yards.
His best professional season came in 2021 with Dallas, when he posted career highs with 45 receptions, 602 receiving yards and six touchdowns. That performance led Miami to sign him to a three-year, $22.1 million contract in 2022.
However, Wilson was unable to duplicate those numbers in later seasons. His next-best statistical year came in 2023 with the Dolphins, when he produced 296 receiving yards and three touchdowns while working behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.
Wilson also spent the 2024 season with the New Orleans Saints, appearing in 15 games and producing 20 catches for 211 yards after injuries sidelined Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed. He later returned to Miami during the 2025 season after Hill suffered a season-ending injury.
The Lions’ receiver room already features Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams and second-year receiver Isaac TeSlaa, who is expected to take on a larger role. The team also signed Greg Dortch in free agency and drafted Kendrick Law in the fifth round.
At 6-foot-2 and 197 pounds, Wilson brings size and experience to a crowded competition that also includes Tom Kennedy, Dominic Lovett, Jackson Meeks and Malik Cunningham.
