The United States men’s national team are getting ready for one of the biggest tournaments in their history as the 2026 FIFA World Cup approaches.
With the competition being played at home, the squad and head coach Mauricio Pochettino’s decisions face immense scrutiny ahead of the tournament.
Pochettino has spent the last few months trying different players and combinations while dealing with injuries and mixed form across the squad.
Some younger players impressed during recent camps, while a few experienced names had difficult seasons in Europe leading to inconsistent results over the last few months.
Now, leaked reports are beginning to reveal some of the major calls by the Argentinian heading into the World Cup.
USMNT Squad Leaked just Weeks Before World Cup
According to a rport by The Athletic’s Tom Bogert and Paul Tenorio, Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Gio Reyna is expected to make the final USMNT World Cup squad despite an inconsistent club season.

Meanwhile, Real Salt Lake star Diego Luna has reportedly been left out of the 26-man roster.
Luna’s omission is likely to surprise many fans after his strong performances in MLS and with the national team over the past year.
The attacking midfielder had become one of the most exciting young names around the squad and was widely viewed as a serious World Cup contender.

Reyna’s inclusion, however, shows that Pochettino still trusts the 23-year-old’s creativity and experience on the international stage.
Even with limited minutes in Germany, Reyna remains one of the most technically gifted players in the US setup.
The report also suggest that Matt Turner, Brenden Aaronson, Mark McKenzie, and Sebastian Berhalter are expected to be included in the squad. Young forward Zavier Gozo is reportedly among the players who will miss out.
The official squad announcement is expected on May 26, but the early leaks have already sparked major discussion among USMNT fans ahead of the tournament.
