Olympiacos B.C. completed a remarkable 2025–26 campaign by capturing the EuroLeague title, reaffirming the club’s status among Europe’s basketball elite through discipline, experience, and championship mentality. They won it by beating Real Madrid in one of the best games in the Finals in the newer EuroLeague history.
This is the 4th EuroLeague Trophy for the team from Pireaus, first one was in 1997, second and the third in 2012 and 2013.
At halftime of the 2026 EuroLeague Final Four championship game in Athens, Olympiacos Piraeus led Real Madrid 46–44. Real Madrid started stronger and won the first quarter 26–19. Olympiacos answered with a dominant second quarter, especially inside the paint, exploiting Madrid’s lack of healthy big men. A key 7-0 shifted momentum before the break.
In the first half Olympiacos relied heavily on Sasha Vezenkov, Evan Fournier and strong rebounding presence. The OAKA/Telekom Center crowd heavily favored Olympiacos, creating a home-court atmosphere in Athens.
Third half totally belonged to Real Madrid. The team from Spain scored 21, while “home team” got 15 in that part of the match. But the last 10 minutes was really men-on-men fight. Olympiacos was scoring for three and having 50% 52 seconds before the end and was leading by 6 (86-80). The team from Piraues used the fact that Real is playing without big men and out-jump them completely (40-24 rebounds at 22.4 seconds before the end). Thirteen seconds before the end Campazzo was shooting free throws, missed the second on purpose, Real got the ball, but missed the shot, and on the other side, Peters was perfect from the free-point line.
The final score was 92-85 for the “home team” and the top player for Olympiacos was Alec Peters (PIR 26), also the owner of the last two points.
The MVP of the EuroLeague Final Four tournament in Athens was Evan Fournier, the French player with 20 points in the Finals (PIR 21).
