Domi Out Indefinitely Due to Complications From Offseason Surgery – The Hockey Writers – Toronto Maple Leafs

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Monday that forward Max Domi is sidelined indefinitely after complications from offseason surgery.

Domi Out Indefinitely

In a statement earlier this morning from the Maple Leafs, they announced he will be re-evaluated at the start of training camp.

Forward [Max] Domi underwent offseason surgery to address an issue he played through this past season. Due to complications arising from the procedure, Domi will be out indefinitely.

Domi will continue working with the club’s medical staff and will be re-evaluated at the start of training camp.

The team did not disclose the procedure, only saying it addressed an issue Domi played through during the 2025-26 season. Despite the injury, he still played 80 games and finished with 12 goals and 36 points while moving up and down the lineup. He has two years left on his 2024 extension, carrying a $3.75 million cap hit.

There’s still no clear timeline for a return, adding another question mark to an already busy offseason for Toronto’s new management group. This could be a big development if he is set to miss a portion of the 2026-27 season. It would allow the Maple Leafs to put his salary on LTIR. Which could give them more time to decide a few other roster moves; such as their goaltending situation.
