Indian stars Pranavi Urs and Diksha Dagar finished inside the top 20 at the Lalla Meryem Cup in Rabat, Morocco, on Saturday with contrasting fortunes over the final 18 holes.
Pranavi finished the week sharing 17th place with a 1 over par 74 that saw her slip out of the top 10 with cards of 3 under 70 and 2 under 71 that saw her total 4 under 214 for the tournament.
After day one, the Mysore golfer was in fact tied for second place before slipping down the order over the next two days to miss out on her first top 10 on the Ladies European Tour since the Indian Open last October.
For her part, Diksha rounded off her visit to Dar Es Salam in a tie for 20th place on 3 under 215, improving on her placings day by day with scores of 75, 70 and 71 on the Royal Golf Dar Es Salam’s Blue Course.
Avani Prashanth and Hitaashee Bakshi missed the cut at the event won by the late-rallying Canadian teenager Anna Huang.
Late charge
Huang overcame a six-shot overnight deficit with a sensational 7 under 66 that included an eagle and six birdies to seal her third LET title after back to back wins last year at the La Sella Open and Lacoste Ladies Open de France.
The 17-year-old’s final day charge carried her past overnight leader Kelsey Bennett by one shot on 14 under par 205.
In edging out the Australian, Huang became the youngest player to reach three victories on the LET, surpassing Lydia Ko’s record of 17 years, 10 months and five days when she won her third title in 2015.
“I’m honestly just so shocked right now,” Huang said on the LET website.
“I didn’t know where the leaderboard was at and I didn’t know where Kelsey was at. I was just trying to stay patient and make pars in the last few holes. But it ended up being the win for me.
“I got a little nervous on the back nine. I mean everyone would. But I just kept playing my own game. To get my third win on tour in only my second year is incredible. I’m just trying to enjoy the moment!”
