Club de Campo took the Spanish men’s regular season title in powerful fashion as they won 11-1 over UD Taburiente, putting them out of reach of Real Club de Polo.
It confirmed they will play in the EHL next season with the second Spanish spot to be determined following next weekend’s playoff games.
Going into the final round of matches, Campo and Polo were level on points with the former holding a slight edge on goal difference.
But, with goals shared between Enrique Zorita (three), Nicolas Poncelet, Álvaro Iglesias, Quique González, Manuel Muesmann, Ignacio Abajo and Daniel Schellinger, Campo were in the clear.
Meanwhile, at the Eduardo Dualde arena, Ramon Sala’s Polo were unable to keep pace and they fell to a playoff chasing Junior 4-2.
The result, though, did not work out for either side as Junior ended up missing out on the top four spots in heart-breaking style as both Sanse Complutense and Atlètic Terrassa won. It left all three level on points with Junior the unlucky side to miss out.
