The Los Angeles Lakers have reportedly laid off more than a dozen employees as the franchise continues reshaping its business operations under new owner Mark Walter.

The staffing cuts affected multiple departments, including marketing, communications, content and corporate partnerships, according to ESPN.

The organizational changes come after the NBA approved Walter’s $10 billion purchase of the Lakers last October, ending the Buss family’s nearly 50-year run controlling the franchise.

Since then, the team has already revamped several leadership positions on the business side, bringing in executives such as Lon Rosen, Michael Spetner and Ryan Kantor.

At the same time, the Lakers are continuing to expand their basketball operations department.

Rob Pelinka recently added former Virginia coach Tony Bennett as a draft advisor, while Rohan Ramadas joined the organization as assistant general manager of strategy and data systems.

Pelinka also stated earlier this month that the Lakers plan to further invest in scouting, player development and training technology, including new biomechanics, movement and recovery labs at the team’s practice facility.
