MJF’s First AEW World Title Defense Revealed

MJF’s First AEW World Title Defense Revealed

MJF officially has his first challenger lined up after reclaiming the AEW World Championship at Double or Nothing.

During the May 27 episode of AEW Dynamite, MJF came to the ring to celebrate becoming a three-time AEW World Champion. Surrounded by giant “3” balloons, MJF bragged about making history at just 30 years old and called himself the greatest wrestler in the world.

Things quickly got tense once Mark Briscoe interrupted the celebration and demanded a title shot after reminding everyone he previously pinned MJF. MJF immediately shut the idea down and mocked Briscoe before trying to walk away from the situation. That’s when Rush stepped in.

Fresh off winning the Superstation Showcase four-way earlier in the night, RUSH confronted MJF backstage and then again during the in-ring segment. RUSH blasted MJF for not acting like a fighting champion and demanded a shot at the AEW World Title himself.

After some back-and-forth between the two, MJF initially tried avoiding the match and made it clear he wasn’t interested in defending the championship right away. Eventually, though, the champion gave in.

MJF told RUSH that “the bull will lock horns with the devil” next week, setting MJF vs. RUSH for the June 3 episode of AEW Dynamite as MJF’s first title defense since defeating Darby Allin at Double or Nothing. AEW wasted no time throwing a major challenger at the new champion, and now MJF’s latest reign faces its first big test only days after it began.

Do you think RUSH has a real chance to take the AEW World Title from MJF next week? Let us know in the comments.
