- Early Access PC driving sim BeamNG.drive is coming to PS5
- Release date expected before the end of 2026
It’s felt like an age since we last saw any major progress from the developers of open-world driving game BeamNG.drive, but now we know why: A PlayStation 5 version is currently in development.
The game’s last major update was in December 2025, offering the usual array of disparate vehicles, objects and scenarios that have made the game a hit with PC users since its Early Access debut all the way back in 2015.
Despite consistent updates, it was always thought the game would be perpetually stuck in EA purgatory until a new trailer, captured on the PlayStation 5 or PS5 Pro, was unveiled today (28th May 2026).
The footage shows off the game’s array of open-world environments and vehicles, but it’s BeamNG’s soft body damage model and crash physics that really steal the headlines. In fact, there is no other driving title currently on PS5 that rivals the game in terms of its destruction derby-style appeal or for the sheer wealth of driving missions and fun scenarios available.
To temper the excitement of BeamNG’s PS5 port somewhat, it must be said that some of the visuals in the trailer don’t match up to the PC version too well, especially in terms of anti-aliasing, but this will hopefully be addressed ahead of release.
