AAA Verano de Escándalo PLE Plans Remain Uncertain After TripleMania Expansion

AAA’s summer schedule may be getting another major WWE-TKO boost, but the plans are still not fully locked in.

According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, TKO had Verano de Escándalo scheduled as an AAA PLE as of WrestleMania weekend. However, those plans may now be more fluid because TripleMania 34 has since expanded into a two-night event: “AAA looks to be continuing a summer tradition.”

It was also noted that Verano de Escándalo was on the table as part of AAA’s PLE calendar under TKO, but the situation may have shifted as WWE and AAA continue adjusting the bigger event schedule. If the show does remain on the calendar, it is currently looking at a late July date.

“Wrestlevotes Radio on Fightful Select reports that TKO has Verano de Escándalo scheduled as a AAA PLE event as of WrestleMania weekend. However, as of late, it appears those plans could be more fluid with the expansion of TripleMania for two nights. We’re told if it does end up happening, it looks like the show would take place Saturday, July 25.”

This comes after WWE announced during Backlash that TripleMania 34 will become the first two-night event in AAA history. The event is scheduled for September 11 and September 13 in Mexico City, though earlier plans were much smaller.

“Original plans called for the event to take place over one night at Arena CDMX on Saturday, September 12.”

There has also been internal speculation that one night of TripleMania could come from the United States, which would mark a huge shift for AAA’s biggest annual event. WrestleVotes also previously noted that WWE has plans to make AAA a larger part of its own programming as the partnership continues to grow.

“According to a source, there is heavy internal speculation that night 1 could emanate from a location in the United States. There are additional plans to integrate more AAA into WWE programming to expand their reach.”

If Verano de Escándalo stays on the schedule, it could give WWE and TKO another major AAA-branded event before TripleMania 34. However, with TripleMania now being expanded into a two-night show, it sounds like plans for the summer calendar may still be shifting.

AAA’s PLE future under TKO is clearly taking shape, but Verano de Escándalo may depend on how WWE wants to structure the road to TripleMania. For now, July 25 appears to be the date to watch.
