After having Thursday off the Cincinnati Reds are back on the field tonight and they’ll be at home. Cincinnati welcomes in the 1st place and holders of the best record in baseball, the Atlanta Braves. First pitch this evening is scheduled for 6:40pm ET.
Starting Lineups
Starting Pitchers
Chris Paddack
Since joining the Reds in the middle of May, Paddack has made two starts for Cincinnati. They’ve been solid to good as he’s allowed two runs and three runs in both of his starts that went 5.0 innings each. The Reds lost both starts but that was not on Paddack as the bullpen gave up five runs in one of those games and the offense managed one run in the other.
Both lefties and righties are hitting for a high average against Paddack this season. Right-handed hitters are not walking much at all, but when they do get hits they are showing good power. Left-handed hitters are walking at a good rate and are making a lot of contact, but they are not showing much power even when they are getting hits.

Grant Holmes
The 2026 season has been a good one thus far for Holmes. He’s had a couple of hiccups along the way but by-and-large he’s pitched well and Atlanta has gone 7-3 in games that he’s started this season. One of those losses came the last time he took the mound despite him allowing two runs and striking out 10 Washington Nationals in the game.
The splits against Holmes aren’t too big this season. Right-handed hitters are finding hits at a higher rate and are hitting for a little more power when they do get hits. Lefties are walking slightly more often, striking out a bit more, and are hitting for solid power when they get hits.

News and Notes
Graham Ashcraft hoping to avoid Tommy John surgery
Ashcraft was placed on the 60-day injured list this afternoon with a tear in his UCL. He’s hoping to avoid needing Tommy John surgery and has already gotten a PRP shot and will try to rehab the injury. We’ve got more information in our piece from earlier today on the injury, a success story on this kind of hopeful rehab from the injury, and more.
Yunior Marte called up
With Ashcraft out, the Reds called up reliever Yunior Marte from Triple-A. We talked about him in the linked article above, but the Cliff’s Notes version: He gets groundballs, he throws really hard, his control isn’t good, and he’s been inconsistent with Louisville but has had a good run over the last three weeks with the Bats.
Minor Leaguer drives in 8 runs last night
Dayton Dragons infielder Carter Graham had a career night on Thursday. He went 4-5 with two doubles, a home run, and a career high eight runs batted in. Those eight RBI tied a Dragons record. After a slow start in April he’s caught fire and is now hitting .319/.440/.525 for Dayton. We’ve got some video and a lot more information here if you wanted more of a deep dive.
