Murli Karthik drops a Dhoni bombshell on this question in the Commentary box during the Kanpur test

On the fifth day of the Kanpur Test, the impatient Indian side, aiming to wrap up the batting innings of their opposition, Bangladesh, found a hurdle in the form of Mushfiqur Rahim. The wicketkeeper batter of the Bangladesh team employed an unorthodox approach of scoring runs in order to tackle the likes of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin- both of whom are spinners. Rahim was quite composed and aggressive while playing against the spin twins of India which was pointed out in the commentary box, by the two commentators; Ravi Shastri and Athar Ali Khan. The calls were provoked when Shastri, the cricket commentator, posed a challenge to former Bangladesh cricketer, Athar Ali, who spoke of Rahim and how well he played spin without being afraid to sweep.

But that was not the case with Kartik who happened to be in the same box with Shastri and Athar Ali-Khan and answered the question by mentioning Dhoni.

As a conclusion, Athar Ali pointed out who Rahim is and how strike rotates with the help of a sweep against spin. This is when Shastri said, “Name me one keeper who doesn’t sweep.”

But, Shastri also knew now that mention of Dhoni was shocking. In fact, Dhoni was a player who was very bottom-handed and did not attempt sweep shots against the spinners. He would, however, step down the wicket to counter-attack any difficult spin bowlers.

Yet even without a lethal weapon such as a sweep shot in his skillset, Dhoni is regarded as one of the best players of spin bowling.

Rahim’s troubles were finally up when he was castled off by Jasprit Bumrah, who executed an off-cutter that removed the middle stump that was guarding the Bangladesh wicket keeper batsman. Consequently, Team India registered a 7-wicket win over Bangladesh thereby winning the two-match series 2-0. Earlier, India also defeated the first Test match by an enormous margin of 280 runs.

However, the win in the Kanpur Test was extremely overwhelming considering the total play possible was less than 2 days
