Backstage Update On Enzo Amore And Big Cass’ WWE Return Status

There has been a significant amount of discussion in the world of professional wrestling regarding the potential return of Enzo Amore and Big Cass (now known as AEW’s Big Bill) to WWE in recent days. This speculation began when WrestleVotes reported on Fightful Select earlier this month that WWE is interested in bringing back the duo. It was later noted that Enzo was seen at the WWE Performance Center during a recent NXT taping.

Subsequently, Fightful Select reported that Amore, who goes by Real1 on the independent circuit, has stopped accepting future bookings. They also mentioned that Big Bill’s contract with AEW is set to expire either at the end of this month or in early June.

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Enzo Amore is expected to start in NXT soon. However, there is currently no official news regarding Big Bill. While Meltzer acknowledged the buzz surrounding the AEW star, he noted that Bill isn’t receiving much attention within WWE. His last appearance on AEW television occurred during the April 6 episode of ROH, and he hasn’t been seen on AEW TV since a Collision taping in early February. Meltzer pointed out that a talent’s absence from television during their contract year usually leads people to suspect they are leaving the promotion. However, he provided examples of Chris Jericho and Powerhouse Hobbs to argue that this is not always the case.

Last year, Jericho was off AEW TV for an extended period, leading many to believe he would join WWE after his contract expired. However, he returned to television in April. On the other hand, Powerhouse Hobbs was regularly featured on TV and held the AEW World Trios Championship when he opted not to sign a new deal and transitioned to WWE.

Amore and Cass enjoyed significant success as a duo during their previous tenure in WWE. Amore’s time with the company ended controversially in 2018 when he was fired due to sexual assault allegations. Cass’ seven-year tenure also came to an end in June 2018 when he was released from his contract.
