Kyle Kuzma has expressed support for the NBA exploring artificial intelligence in officiating, including potential use on out-of-bounds and other reviewable calls, following recent comments tied to league discussions on game management and replay efficiency.

The Milwaukee Bucks forward addressed the concept after NBA Commissioner Adam Silver discussed how AI could eventually assist or make certain in-game rulings. Kuzma’s reaction focused on how current stoppages affect game flow and rhythm.

“I think that’s a great idea, because we have these coaching challenges and stoppage during games where five minutes of real time may go off, and we’re just sitting there,” he said, via Front Office Sports.

The statement reflects ongoing league interest in reducing downtime created by video reviews and challenge systems. The NBA has already expanded replay usage in recent seasons, but game interruptions remain a recurring point of discussion among players and coaches.

For Kuzma, the emphasis is on maintaining tempo in a league where possessions and momentum swings often decide outcomes. The Bucks forward has operated within a system centered around Giannis Antetokounmpo, where pace and transition opportunities remain central to offensive structure.

Milwaukee’s 2025–26 season has highlighted both efficiency and inconsistency, with the team finishing 32–50 in the Eastern Conference standings and missing the postseason.

League-wide, the idea of automated or AI-assisted officiating is positioned around reducing human delay rather than replacing on-court judgment entirely. Areas like boundary calls and timing decisions have been identified as potential early applications.
