NBA Insider Reveals Cavaliers’ Current Stance On Signing LeBron James Amid Lakers, Warriors Rumors

Los Angeles Lakers star and impending free agent LeBron James is primed to dominate NBA headlines once again this summer. As expected, James declared that he’ll take his time evaluating his options and everything is on the table.

He’s been linked to a return home to play for the Cleveland Cavaliers over the last few months, and a top league insider revealed the latest information on that scenario.

NBA Insider Reveals Cavs Are Interested In LeBron James Reunion

NBA insider Sam Amico revealed James is on the Cavs’ radar this summer. Amico said “You’re gonna wait and see on LeBron, I’m sure. They’re looking already at pathways on if they can get him to come to Cleveland.”

James has taken a year-to-year approach throughout the last few years while deciding whether to retire. The allure of winning another championship with the Lakers, this time alongside his son Bronny, motivated James to continue playing.

James had another all-star season, while admitting he had to step outside his comfort zone by playing most of the season as the Lakers’ third option. He averaged 20.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 7.2 assists per game during the regular season, while shooting 51.5% from the field.

While he understood Luka Dončić’s emergence as the new face of the franchise, he was perhaps just as shocked as the rest of the league at Austin Reaves’ leap to become an all-star level player.

Most of the speculation around the Lakers’ off-season centers on the belief that the organization essentially has to choose between re-signing James or Reeves this off-season. However, it appears the Lakers will make an effort to retain both players.

James told fellow MVP and podcast partner Steve Nash that it’s possible he finds a new home this summer, and Amick believes the Cavs will try to reunite. The Cavs are once again facing questions regarding the team’s long-term outlook after they were hammered in the Eastern Conference Finals by the New York Knicks.

After essentially having to choose between all-stars Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland, the Cavs are now facing a similar decision with their frontcourt. The next step in overhauling the roster most likely includes trading one of their all-star bigs Evan Mobley or Jarrett Allen.

James would be tasked with replacing some of the outgoing production of the departed all-star, which he should be able to do, even as he enters his 24th season.

The Golden State Warriors are also expected to inquire about James’ interest in staying in the West and playing with respected rival Stephen Curry. The Cavs are considered the best fit by many, as the East appears more open heading into next season and Amick believes the Cavs will try to convince James to make the decision to come home.
