Sheamus Reveals Why The Attitude Era Was Great

Sheamus believes nostalgia plays a major role in how fans remember past eras of professional wrestling, especially when it comes to WWE’s Attitude Era.

Speaking on a recent edition of “The Late Run” podcast, The Celtic Warrior suggested that memories often become more powerful than reality over time. He said,

“I think there’s a huge thing for nostalgia. It feels better than what it is. Everyone talks about the Attitude Era. The Attitude Era was balls-to-the-wall, right? Anything goes? But if you go back and look at a lot of those matches, they’re just six thousand kicks, six thousand punches. What made that era great was the crowds. After [the] Attitude Era kind of cooled down a bit, people would [criticize] wrestling. I would say, ‘Have you ever been to a WWE show?’ … Then I’ll get them tickets, people I know, and they’ll go, ‘That was amazing.’”

According to Sheamus, experiencing WWE live often changes opinions, as the energy inside the arena creates a different appreciation for the product than what viewers see on television.
