They Just Won’t Give Up: Urszula Radwanska

Every now and then you see a marquee name – or formerly marquee name – pop up in a pro tournament. It was a surprise to see the 35 year old Urszula Radwanska is still grinding.

Once the WTA world no. 29 way back in 2012, the former Wimbledon girls champion in singles is currently ranked 689 and playing next week in an ITF Portugal $50k qualies.

The younger sister of former top three WTA elite player Aga Radwanska, Urszula was considered equally talented but more of a headcase. Once the ITF no. 1 ranked junior back in 2007, Radwanska has only won one WTA title in her career, a doubles crown in 2007 with her sister. She has played two WTA singles finals but lost both, to Nadia Petrova in Rosmalen 2012 and Lesia Tsurenko in Istanbul 2015.

In Radwanska’s Grand Slam debut in 2008 she lost in the second round to Serena Williams 46 46. Ula Radwanska has earned over $2m in her pro career which started in 2005.
