El Hijo del Vikingo’s losing streak is officially over, and he’s leaving AAA Noche de los Grandes with championship gold around his waist.
After falling short in several major matches over the past few months, Vikingo finally got back on track by defeating El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. to become the new AAA Latin American Champion. The victory ends Wagner’s reign at more than 285 days and gives Vikingo one of the biggest wins of his recent career.
Wagner came out firing from the opening bell and looked ready to shut down another Vikingo title opportunity. The champion connected with a dropkick, powerslam, and senton before the challenger found an opening by attacking Wagner’s leg and slowing down his momentum.
Vikingo kept the pressure on with several aerial attacks, including a standing Shooting Star Press and a crucifix driver that nearly ended the match. Wagner fought back with a superkick, cannonball, and a diving splash, but neither man could keep the other down.
Things quickly spiraled out of control once outside interference entered the picture. Omos appeared at ringside and created a distraction that helped swing momentum in Vikingo’s favor. Galeno soon ran out to even the odds, leading to chaos around the ring as both men became involved in the match.
The surprises didn’t stop there. Mini Vikingo also got involved while the referee’s attention was elsewhere, delivering a dropkick that nearly helped change the outcome. Despite everything happening around him, Wagner continued fighting and refused to give up his championship easily.
In the closing moments, Omos blasted Wagner with a huge right hand, creating the opening Vikingo needed. The challenger immediately capitalized, connecting with a spectacular 630 splash before scoring the three-count to win the match.
With the victory, El Hijo del Vikingo is once again a champion in AAA. After months of frustrating losses and missed opportunities, he finally has a title around his waist and momentum back on his side, while Wagner’s lengthy run as Latin American Champion has officially come to an end.
