Rey Fenix is leaving AAA Noche de los Grandes with a new championship.
Fenix challenged Laredo Kid for the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship and finally got payback after weeks of dealing with the champion’s underhanded tactics. In the end, Fenix survived everything Laredo threw at him and walked away with the title.
Fenix came out fast and took control early with a series of dropkicks. Laredo eventually turned things around by targeting Fenix’s back and leg, using a Texas Cloverleaf and several other submissions to slow him down.
The champion also continued to bend the rules. Laredo exposed a turnbuckle pad and looked for every advantage he could find, but Fenix refused to stay down. He battled back with a splash from the top rope and several big strikes as the match picked up speed.
Late in the bout, both men traded near falls. Laredo tried to steal another victory with a low blow, but Fenix blocked it and answered with a rolling cutter and a superkick. Although Laredo escaped the Mexican Muscle Buster once, he couldn’t avoid it forever.
After surviving another low blow and a frog splash from the champion, Fenix finally turned the tables. He sent Laredo into the exposed turnbuckle and followed up with a second Mexican Muscle Buster to score the pinfall.
The win gives Rey Fenix the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship and ends Laredo Kid’s title reign. It was one of the biggest moments of the night and another major accomplishment for one of AAA’s top stars.
