Liverpool are on the hunt for a new manager following the sacking of Arne Slot.

The Dutchman was dismissed on Saturday following a disappointing season, with the Reds finishing fifth in the Premier League and failing to win a trophy.

Slot had guided the Merseyside giants to the top flight title in his first season in charge, but a disappointing campaign this time around has prompted those in charge of the club to act.

Now, it has emerged that a manager who left the Premier League very recently is set to replace the ex-Feyenoord boss.

As per Fabrizio Romano, Andoni Iraola is in line to be appointed as Liverpool’s new manager.

The Spaniard is currently without a team after leaving Bournemouth at the end of the season, but Romano claims that he has been identified as the ideal replacement for Slot.

Iraola, 43, took charge of the Cherries back in 2023 and guided the south coast side to a 12th-placed finish in his first season in charge, before finishing ninth during the 2024/25 campaign.

This season Bournemouth finished sixth and qualified for the Europa League, although Iraola had already announced that he would depart the club when his contract expired.

Romano claims that Liverpool have decided that Iraola will be their next appointment, with negotiations over a contract set to take place.

Discussions are expected to be straightforward, he claims, with the Reds hoping to reach an agreement as soon as possible.

Since leaving Bournemouth, Iraola has been linked with vacant managerial roles at Italian giants AC Milan, Premier League rivals Crystal Palace and German side Bayer Leverkusen.
