evin Owens is watching WWE from the sidelines, and it’s clearly starting to hit him hard.
Less than 30 minutes into WWE Clash in Italy, Owens jumped on social media and dropped a simple message that said everything.
“I miss wrestling.”
That was it. No big speech. No long update. Just four words from a guy who has been out of the ring for months after neck surgery.
Owens has been sidelined since before WrestleMania 41, and he previously revealed that he needed neck surgery. He has stayed around WWE in other ways, including working as a coach on season three of WWE Legends & Future Greats, but that clearly isn’t the same as being in the ring.
Owens has already admitted that the time away has been messing with him because wrestling is all he has known since he was a teenager.
“I’ve been wrestling for 25 years. Ultimately, for me, I just want to help the next generation. Also, I don’t really know what I’d do with myself if I didn’t. This is all I’ve done since I was 15. This is what I love and have always loved. Right now, I’ve been off for eight, nine months, because of my neck surgery. I’m losing it. I just want to be around it.”
Owens also recently appeared in a WWE video to announce the company’s return to Canada this August, and he didn’t hide the fact that he hasn’t wrestled in a long time.
“Hello, my name is Kevin Owens. You may know me from several wrestling matches I’ve had in, you know, the last 26 years or so. Not so much in the last year. I haven’t wrestled. Then I had neck surgery. It was a whole thing. I have the scar. You see it.”
He joked that he had been doing a lot of nothing since the surgery before getting the chance to announce WWE’s Canadian dates. Owens also told fans WWE will run shows in London, Ontario, Toronto, and Ottawa this August. He wrapped that announcement by saying he misses the fans, too.
“Anyway, so since then I really haven’t been doing much, you know, a lot of walking around aimlessly. But today I have a purpose.”
“Go buy the tickets, go to the shows. Have a blast. And I really miss you guys. And I mean that 100%.”
There is still no confirmed date for Owens’ in-ring return, but his Clash in Italy post made one thing very clear. Kevin Owens is tired of sitting at home, tired of watching everyone else do what he loves, and more than ready to get back when his body allows it.
