The New York Jets could be an exciting team to watch in 2026. New York made several big additions this offseason, adding multiple starters on both offense and defense. But one Jets player believes that one coaching change could be the team’s biggest source of improvement this fall.
Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson is already excited about the 2026 season. Wilson believes that offensive coordinator Frank Reich could make next season different than all the rest for New York.
“Honestly, this is probably one of the offenses that I’m going to look back on in a few years and love the most,” Wilson said, per ESPN’s Rich Cimini.
New York hired Reich back in February to fix the team’s pathetic offense from last season. Reich is now Wilson’s fourth offensive coordinator during his five seasons in the NFL.
Wilson could be the biggest beneficiary of Reich calling plays on offense. Especially when paired with their Geno Smith upgrade at quarterback.
The veteran receiver is also confident because Reich actually has experience as a quarterback in the NFL.
“It’s really player-empowering, I’ll say,” Wilson added. “I don’t really know how else to put it. It’s receiver-empowering, skill position-empowering. You got a guy that’s played quarterback and kind of gets it as far as the instinct side of football, the side of it that’s not going to be perfect the way we drew it up on paper, but you have to embrace that. There’s a way to train people to make the right decision when it isn’t going perfect, and he focuses on that, which I love.”
Wilson had three consecutive 1,000-yard seasons headed into 2025. Unfortunately, he only managed 36 receptions for 395 receiving yards and four touchdowns after suffering a season-ending knee injury.
Hopefully Wilson can have a career season in Reich’s new offense.
