David Carle Declines Toronto’s Request, and Three Center Targets for the Philadelphia Flyers

David Carle turns down the Toronto Maple Leafs interview request. Is he waiting for the Colorado Avalanche opening?

Emily Kaplan of ESPN: The belief is that if David Carle is to ever leave the University of Denver, it will be for the Colorado Avalanche. After the Avs were swept in the Conference Finals, some wonder about Jared Bednar’s future. Bednar wouldn’t be unemployed long if the Avs were to fire him.

Frank Seravalli: Sources said that the Toronto Maple Leafs did talk to Carle early in their coaching search and had a good conversation. Carle politely declined their interest in having an interview.

David Pagnotta: Had heard that Carle told the Maple Leafs that now is not the right time for him.

Three long-shot center trade targets for the Philadelphia Flyers

Anthony Di Marco of Daily Faceoff: The Philadelphia Flyers need to find a top-six center, and they won’t be alone. Teams are signing their pending UFA centers, and the market is thin. A look at some potential targets for the Flyers. Division rivals, the New Jersey Devils, Nico Hischier was left off the list despite his name coming up in the rumor mill recently.

Dylan Cozens – Ottawa Senators – There’s been no indication that they are looking to move him, but they have center depth and could use some blue line help. They had a previous interest in Flyers Rasmus Ristolainen, and the Flyers would obviously need to include more.

Matty Beniers – Seattle Kraken – Not sure what is going on in Seattle or what they are looking to do, but if he’s made available, the Flyers should be talking to them.

Auston Matthews – Toronto Maple Leafs – If Matthews doesn’t like the direction of the Maple Leafs may have to explore the option. Would the Leafs consider a deal involving Matvei Michkov and getting their own 2027 or 2028 first-round pick back?
