Backstage News On Major TNA Star’s Contract Status Amid Previous WWE Interest

According to PWInsider.com, Mike Santana’s contract with TNA Wrestling is expected to expire in July of this year. The report also indicates that as Santana’s contract nears its expiration, speculation about his future will likely increase, particularly given previous reports of WWE’s interest in him.

Additionally, Santana’s situation arises during a time when several TNA contracts are attracting attention. One notable name is Leon Slater, who Dave Meltzer recently reported is expected by many in the wrestling industry to end up in either WWE or AEW once his current deal expires.

Santana has spent the past two years rebuilding his momentum and establishing himself as a singles competitor. After debuting in 2007, he signed with iMPACT Wrestling in 2017 and quickly achieved success alongside Ortiz as part of LAX. The team became one of the promotion’s most celebrated acts, winning the iMPACT World Tag Team Championship multiple times.

In 2019, they joined Chris Jericho’s Inner Circle faction in AEW. Santana remained with the group for several years before returning to TNA in 2024. Since his return, he has re-established himself as a main-event player and is pursuing the TNA World Championship. Currently, Santana is in his second reign as TNA World Champion and ranks among the top competitors in the company.
