Carmella is opening up about why she decided to get blepharoplasty, and she’s making it clear this was her choice alone.
While speaking on her YouTube channel, the former SmackDown Women’s Champion addressed criticism from people who believe she should “age gracefully” or avoid cosmetic procedures. Carmella said she understands that view, but this was something that had bothered her personally for years.
“I get people saying like, ‘Oh, you know, age gracefully, age naturally, do don’t touch your whatever.’ I feel like to each their own, right? This is something that’s bothering me. I’m not doing it for anybody else. I’m not doing it because the acting coach said that. I’m doing that because that was something that was already such an issue for me.”
Carmella explained that her under-eye area was something she struggled with whenever she looked in the mirror, and after becoming a mother, she decided it was finally time to address it.
“Like when I looked in the mirror, I just hated what I saw. And I know that sounds crazy, but it’s just something that I really wanted to take care of. So I’m like, ‘This is I’m going to do it.’ And I told Matt, once I have Bram, I’m ready for like my mommy makeover, whatever. And I said, I really want to get my eyes fixed. And so I didn’t get a mommy makeover, but I did get an eye makeover.”
She also stressed that she is not trying to push plastic surgery on anyone. For Carmella, the decision was about confidence and feeling better in her own skin.
“And I want to be very clear. I’m not promoting plastic surgery. I’m not telling you you need to fix your face. I truly feel that you should do whatever it is that you want to do that makes you feel good, makes you feel confident.”
Carmella said she is now three weeks removed from surgery and already feels much better about herself. She admitted that her eye bags caused her anxiety for years, especially during her WWE schedule when appearances, red carpets, and early morning TV spots made rest difficult.
“I’m now three weeks out from my surgery. If you’re watching this on YouTube, I feel so much better. I feel so much more confident. For my whole life, I always had such anxiety about, oh my gosh, I have to make sure I get enough sleep tonight because I have whatever event or, you know, working in WWE for years.”
She said the issue became worse whenever she had a demanding schedule and could not sleep enough before public appearances. Now, Carmella said she simply feels better, and that is what mattered most to her.
“If I had an appearance or a red carpet or whatever it was, I always stressed so much about my eye bags. Again, they were always there. But if I wasn’t sleeping as much, if I had to like a late night drive for work and I wasn’t able to get as much rest and had to be on TV at 6 a.m. on the news promoting the show that night, I would stress out so much because my bags would be that much more prominent. It’s just something that had bothered me for so long and I feel so, so much better about just myself and that’s what it’s about. It’s about feeling good about yourself.”
