Tomohiro Ishii is officially back on AEW television.

The longtime NJPW star made a surprise appearance prior to this week’s AEW programming, marking his first appearance for the company since disappearing from TV earlier this year.

Ishii returned during a backstage segment featuring The Conglomeration. Mark Briscoe, Orange Cassidy, Kyle O’Reilly, and Roderick Strong were discussing recent events when Briscoe revealed he wasn’t alone while watching the show. Briscoe then introduced Ishii, bringing the fan-favorite veteran back into the AEW spotlight after a lengthy absence.

The appearance marked Ishii’s first time on AEW television since February. His absence came after he suffered a neck injury during NJPW The New Beginning USA on February 27. The injury was serious enough to force him out of the New Japan Cup tournament, and he has not wrestled a match since.

While AEW fans now know Ishii is back around the company, there is still no word on when he will be cleared to compete inside the ring again. Even so, seeing Ishii back alongside The Conglomeration is a positive sign after months without any AEW appearances.

What should AEW do with Tomohiro Ishii when he returns to action? Let us know in the comments and share your thoughts.
