Assetto Corsa EVO’s latest update marks the beginning of modding

There are new cars, enhanced particle effects, fresh multiplayer features, but the takeaway feature for Assetto Corsa EVO’s 0.7 early access update is modding.

Specifically, the release of a supplementary SDK app to edit cars. Footage in the update’s trailer showcases the deep toolset, allowing not only vehicle customisation, but according to developer Kunos Simulazioni, “allows users to produce custom vehicles to use in single-player racing”.

Later, updates are promised to open this up to multiplayer, car liveries and tracks.

This phased approach to modding through early access is a change from the original user-generated content plans, when the tools were planned for after Version 1.0.

The SDK is available from today, 3rd June 2026, presumed to be in the Tools section of Steam alongside the latest game update.

Elsewhere, a new particle effect system has been added, showcased via a clip of the (also new) Datsun 240Z spraying gravel at the camera. The new system will also deliver, according to the publishers, enhanced smoke, dust, water spray and impact effects.
