Becky Lynch sees where WWE’s women’s division is heading — and she thinks the ceiling is massive, as Lynch feels women will main event more WrestleManias than the men in the future.
While speaking with Stephanie McMahon on the What’s Your Story? podcast, Becky reacted after Stephanie revealed that a friend recently asked whether WWE’s women had surpassed the men. Becky didn’t want to disrespect the male roster, but she made it clear she believes the women’s division has enough talent, personality, and story potential to take over even more major spots, even main eventing more WrestleManias than men.
Stephanie McMahon: “I had a friend of mine who’s a huge fan text me the other day and say, Steph. All kidding aside, have the women surpassed the men?
Becky Lynch: I find no offence, not throwing the lads under the bus. There’s some great dudes and there’s some great up and coming dudes. When I look at the future I go, I think the women are going to be main eventing more Manias than the dudes because I think the well of potential—
Stephanie McMahon: There’s a lot of talent.”
Becky then pointed to the depth of the division, saying the women have colorful personalities and a lot of character work behind them. Stephanie agreed, noting the athleticism and in-ring psychology across the roster.
Becky Lynch: “And they’re just such colourful personalities.
Stephanie McMahon: And very athletic, very all like they understand the psychology, in-ring psychology, which is—
Becky Lynch: There’s a lot of care I think put in, and there there’s a lot of thought put into people’s characters. I feel they care a lot. Yeah, there’s just a lot of life. There’s just a lot of life in that division.”
Stephanie backed that up, and Becky doubled down by saying WWE’s women have plenty of stories left to tell. For her, this is not just a strong period for the division — it is an exciting time where the women are getting the chance to prove how much they can carry.
Stephanie McMahon: “There is a lot of life.
Becky Lynch: A lot of life and there’s a lot of stories to be told and we’re getting to tell them. And it’s awesome. It’s an awesome, awesome time.
Stephanie McMahon: “It is.”
Becky’s comments come after Nikki and Brie Bella also praised WWE’s women’s division, with Nikki saying she believes the women’s division is better than the men’s overall. So, between the Bellas’ praise and Becky’s belief that women could main event more WrestleManias than the men, the conversation around WWE’s women’s roster is clearly getting louder.
