New global vision for sport, culture, and technology takes shape ahead of landmark event in Los Angeles
With 200 days to go until the Los Angeles 2026 Global Esports Games, the Global Esports Federation has outlined an ambitious vision positioning Los Angeles as the next global stage for the esports generation and a defining platform at the intersection of sport, culture, technology, media, and entertainment.
Set to take place from 2-7 December 2026, the 5th edition of the Global Esports Games arrives at a historic moment for the United States, following the FIFA World Cup and during the nation’s 250th Anniversary year.
The milestone marks a significant next chapter for the Global Esports Games movement, following previous editions hosted in Singapore, Istanbul, Riyadh, and Mumbai.
“Los Angeles has long stood at the intersection of sport, storytelling, technology, and culture,” said Sir Paul J. Foster, KStJH, President & CEO, Global Esports Federation.
“It is a city where imagination meets execution. From Hollywood and music to sport, fashion, food, and urban culture, Los Angeles represents the future-facing convergence that defines the esports era. As we look toward December 2026, we are not simply preparing for another event. We are building the future architecture of a truly global esports ecosystem.”
As part of the next phase leading into Los Angeles 2026, GEF is undertaking a focused integration effort across its global ecosystem to strengthen alignment across governance, operations, commercial strategy, media, and digital infrastructure.
The initiative includes the continued development of GEFx, GEF’s digital platform designed to connect participation, commerce, content, and community across a #worldconnected esports ecosystem.
GEF is also advancing a broader collaboration with the LA Times Media Group to develop new storytelling, media, and audience engagement initiatives surrounding Los Angeles 2026, including the Global Esports Arena Los Angeles (GEALA) at the Los Angeles Times El Segundo campus, envisioned as a new convergence point for esports, culture, media, and entertainment.
“With 200 days to go, our focus is on alignment, integration, and long-term value creation,” Foster added.
“This is how modern global platforms are built — not in silos, but in systems; not in fragments, but in alignment. Los Angeles 2026 will be a defining moment, but it is also a platform for what comes next.”
To support this next phase, GEF Vice President Dr. Melita N. Moore, Chair of the GEF Coordination Commission, will work alongside the GEF’s Board to strengthen strategic alignment across the organisation’s global ecosystem. Secretary General Aurelia Ruetsch and Chief Operating Officer Rustam Aghasiyev will lead integration efforts across divisions and partners with a mandate to align, simplify, and accelerate operations ahead of Los Angeles 2026.
The Los Angeles 2026 Global Esports Games are expected to bring together athletes, communities, publishers, creators, artists, media partners, and innovators from around the world in a multi-dimensional celebration of esports and modern global culture.
From the red carpets of Hollywood to the creative districts of Downtown Los Angeles, the Games aim to reflect the full expression of contemporary youth culture and digital entertainment.
“From Singapore to Istanbul, Riyadh, Mumbai, and now Los Angeles, each host city has contributed to a growing global movement,” Foster said.
“Now, Los Angeles becomes its next evolution.”
